called Chemical Vapour Deposition.
With this technique, a small slice of

is placed in a low-pressure
chamber, along with hydrogen and
methane gases.
High-power microwave energy then heats the chamber to break down the
atomic bonds in the gases and release free carbon atoms. The carbon then
“rains” down onto the seed to grow a diamond atom by atom.
