Self-Harm & Trauma - Denver Intensive
Outpatient Mental Health Program For Teens
Decade2Connect offers an
intensive outpatient program to
support children and their
families who are struggling to
cope with mental health issues.
Running for a period of between 9
and 12 weeks, the new program
focuses on the family system and
consists of three in-person meetings
per week, two of which focus on the
child and one on the family as a
whole.
Experiential therapy
involves participating in
and reflecting on various
activities.
The program refers to treatment as
healing and highlights three components
that are integral to recovery. The first
component teaches children how to
connect thoughts, feelings, bodily-felt
senses, and actions by learning how
emotions work and how to identify them.
Children develop regulation
skills, tolerance skills, coping
skills, self-care, and
prevention skills.
The second component aims
to connect families through
positive communication and
team-building exercises.
It teaches you about the
importance of self-care and
explains how to provide
support when emotions are
high.
The final component
focuses on how to apply
learned skills to social
situations outside of the
family.
It teaches teamwork skills and
how to gain and maintain
positive peer relationships
whilst exploring concepts of
self-respect and boundaries.
