Interviewing Guidelines
1. Prepare for the interview
● Before the interview, review the Opportunity and see what is required from
the Volunteer to be successful in the Role.
● Review the Responses to the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire.
● Review the Volunteer’s SkilledUp Life Profile.
● Review the Volunteer’s Social Media Profiles, if identified on the SkilledUp Life
Profile.
● Think of specific Questions to ask from the Volunteer.
2. During the Interview
● Small Talk:
○ Start with small talk to make the Volunteer more comfortable.
● Agenda - Explain how the interview will be structured:
○ First of all introduce yourself and your role in your company, then
give a short introduction about your company and what it does.
○ Then ask the Volunteer to introduce himself/herself.
○ Clarify that if there are any questions, they can be asked any time
during the Interview.
○ Make sure you excite the Volunteer about the Company and the
Opportunity. Do not exaggerate. Tell the truth..
● Questions:
○ Ask the Questions you planned to ask.
○ Ask any additional Questions that come into your mind since you
started the Interview.
○
Invite the Volunteer to ask any Questions from you.
● Volunteer Tasks:
○ Explain the Tasks that would be assigned to the Volunteer
○ Explain the need for daily reporting.

● Closure:
○ Explain what would happen next.
3. After the Interview
●
If unsuccessful:
○
If not successful, send a quick message through email or built-in
internal messaging to inform the outcome.
○ Click on “Reject” against the application on the SkilledUp Life
Dashboard.
●
If successful:
○ Prepare the Volunteer Agreement.
○ Once both parties have signed, click on “Approve” against the
application on the SkilledUp Life Dashboard.
