Connie's career kicked off after
being hired by the World Health
Organization to work in the Smallpox
Eradication Program in India in
1975.
Owing to work such as Dr. Davis', smallpox was
declared officially eradicated in 1979.

success was maintaining an open
mind towards all opportunities that
arose and going wherever they led
her.

tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and yellow
fever.
Connie attended Gonzaga University and was one of the first black
women admitted to the University of California, San Francisco School of
Medicine where she graduated in 1968.
After finishing a pediatric residency,
she earned her Master of Public
Health degree from Johns Hopkins
School of Public Health.
